- Rochambeau has won the call for scores for the 2013 Red Note New Music Festival! The work will be played on the opening concert of the festival, March 3, 2013, by the Illinois State University wind ensemble conducted by Dan Belongia!
- Commissions are in the works - new chamber pieces for winds:
- Duo for oboe and bassoon, commissioned by Michael Garza, principal bassoon of the Guangzhou Symphony (China)
- Work for solo flute, commissioned by consortium led by Conor Nelson, professor of flute at Bowling Green State University
- Work for two clarinets, commissioned by consortium led by Shawn Copeland, Adjunct Professor of Clarinet at High Point University, High Point, NC
- I'm honored to announce my promotion to Associate Professor of Composition with tenure at the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston!

Copland House Residency
Plans are being made for my second (!) Copland House residency. I have a lot of exciting projects in the pipeline for my six-week stay (May 7-June 8). My 2005 residency was fruitful - now I'm prepared to make this one sensational! Stay tuned for further developments.
Iron Composer Finalist!
I have been selected as a finalist for the 2010 Iron Composer competition held by the Analog Arts Ensemble at Baldwin-Wallace College. This looks like an exciting, unique event. The finals will be broadcast live on WCLV 104.9 and online at their website. Wish me luck!
Suspiria wins Longfellow Prize
Suspiria, my setting of Longfellow's poem for chorus and orchestra, has won the 2009-10 Longfellow Chorus International Composers competition. The work was given its world premiere and encore performances at First Parish Church in Portland, ME (Longfellow's childhood church) on Feb. 27-28, 2010. An excerpt of the premiere performances is available on the Music page of my website.
CODA Winner
I am honored to have been chosen as the winner of the inaugural College Orchestra Directors Association (CODA) Composition Competition. The Ever-Fixed Mark was presented in an anonymous reading session on Sep. 5, 2009 by the Baylor Symphony Orchestra alongside four other finalists. A distinguished panel of judges selected The Ever-Fixed Mark as the winner. The piece will be featured (in its world premiere performance!) at the CODA National Conference at Kennesaw State University, Feb. 4-6, 2010.
CD Release:
Pantheon has been released on Albany Records' Not Here, But There, a recording of all new music by the University of Houston Percussion Ensemble conducted by Blake Wilkins.
